The Cross Inn, Berwick Restaurant

Venture to the Scottish Borders and you will discover a whole world of natural beauty, and a cornucopia of perfect wild natural produce. |
The border between Scotland and England has always been a hotly contested area, and has changed hands many times in its tempestuous, passionate and bloody past.
The Borders and Northumberland are undoubtedly the UK's best-kept secret, and it is surely this which has preserved the beauty, history and natural wildlife of the area. Northumberland and the Borders are resplendent with magnificent castles, stately homes and areas of outstanding natural beauty.
It is beside one of these grand and illustrious stately homes, that you will find The Cross Inn, Berwick and Borders restaurant, situated in the beautiful and charming village of Paxton, near Berwick upon Tweed. Built by the renowned Adam brothers in 1758, Paxton House is thought to be the finest example of a Palladian house by the Adams brothers, in the United Kingdom.
The Cross Inn has always played a big part in the local community, and to this day continues that tradition as a fine family owned Berwick restaurant.
Mike, owner and chef of The Cross Inn, and his wife Julie, are devoutly passionate about the area and the fine local produce.
Mike as a chef naturally wants only the best quality ingredients for his guests, and is dedicated to finding the freshest local wild Tweed trout and fine salmon from Paxton House, the best of the day's catch from Eyemouth, and hand picked wild mussels from Holy Island; in fact there are very few ingredients that are not local, and which are seen fit to grace the tables of this gastronomic aficionados delight.

The redoubtable reputation of The Cross Inn is warmly appreciated by all those who dine there, and master chef Mike is elegantly aided by his wife Julie, whose charm and natural warmth pervade front of house. It is this remarkable tour de force of passion, charm and warmth that brings people from far and wide to sample the fine cuisine, and charming atmosphere of The Cross Inn.

Julie's charm and demeanour, coupled with Mike's passion for excellence make The Cross Inn, Paxton a wonderful venue for any celebration, such as christenings and anniversaries, but especially weddings, which come to life under the magic spell woven by Julie and Mike.
The restaurant and bar are very child friendly, and there is a really lovely beer garden to enjoy great beer, fine wines and of course the stunning local scenery from. The Cross Inn is open all week, and has easy wheelchair access, as well as making less mobile guests very welcome.
